I am someone who tweets under their real name, and I must disagree with the main idea here of killing all anonymity. There are many with legitimate reasons to want to have a public voice while maintaining privacy. The trolls and bad faith actors are a problem, but not a problem to be solves by silencing vast swarths of people who do not want to participate in-what would inevitably become-a verified member platform. Twitter can do so if they wish, it’s their company, but it would no longer be the Twitter that has become so popular and influential. We can, and should focus on, solutions to the bathwater being dirty without throwing it all out with the baby.
