Your Heard Tell for Friday, 27 May, 2022 is turning down the noise and getting the information we need on trying to get accountability for mass shootings in Buffalo and Uvalde, and how “known to authorities” and “slipped through the cracks” are newspeak for unaccountable folks who didn’t do the jobs they should have ahead of time at the expense of innocent lives. We go to India, where the ruling government’s push for a Uniform Civil Code regarding such things as marriage, divorce, inheritance and adoption in the very diverse and divide population of the world’s largest democracy, what it means for human rights and justice, and lessons we can learn from the struggle. Guest Jericho Hill returns, and he has some interesting reporting on a phenomenon going on in the Reddit law enforcement sphere, where moderators tried to shut down criticism of the police response to the Uvalde massacre but the commenters where having none of it.
