On this Best of Heard Tell for Monday, 16 January, 2023 which is Martin Luther King Day in America, we review three conversations with three great guests on matters of race, culture, history, and better ways to address and discuss the issues to make real progress. First from March, 2022 Delegate Danielle Walker (WV-51) explains why things like the CROWN Act are important and how things like discrimination affect jobs, opportunities, and identity. We discuss the history of minorities in West Virginia and greater Appalachia and the importance of getting all of history told for all of us. Del. Walker also directly addresses the contention of society needing to be “colorblind” both as an elected official and in a very personal way. Also, we end on some good news as a bill that is very near and dear to Del Walker’s heart brought overwhelming support from both sides of the House of Delegates, and the emotional signing into law something that will save lives and honor a legacy.
