Heard Tell for Wednesday, February 16th, 2022 is turning down the noise and getting to the information we need about Canadian trucker protests in Ottawa & elsewhere and Canadian politics inside Parliament. Instead of opining from afar what Canadians think, we talk to actual Canadian and friend of the program David Clement to have some grown folk talk on the what & why of the protests, how the American coverage isn’t the full picture, the politics and policy of the Trudeau gov’t, the change in leadership for conservatives, charges about the protests being “co-opted”, and the very worrying emergency powers and financial tactics the Canadian government is using. Also, we talk about the floated proposal for a gas tax holiday by the Biden administration, and how that would once again be going for a quick optics fix instead of prudent policy, and how gas prices as a lagging indicator bot are and are not the president’s fault. Plus, we talk about the push by some to put cameras in classrooms, and how this reaction to the ongoing debates over education, teachers, curriculum, and learning aren’t just not solved by constant surveillance but would make matters worse. We touch on two trending stories involving documents that you need to Read For
