Excellent piece, well done laying it out. No matter how many times Bezos himself tells people Amazon is a logistics company first and foremost, it still does not seem to sink in to most folks.

One thing people outside of a logistics/transportation background do not consider is when it comes to delivery, Amazon taking even a moderate chunk (say, 10%–20%) away from the USPS, UPS, and FedEx’s of the world will give them unimaginable leverage for the foreseeable future and be a game changer in how those companies negotiate and charge. Money is in the margins, and Amazon is looking to dominate those margins in delivery and elsewhere.

Well done piece.
